SAE Institute was established as The School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in October 1976 by engineer/producer Tom Misner, who in doing so developed the world's first combined practical and theoretical curriculum in audio engineering. Our unique education system remains the only one of its kind in the world and has since expanded to offer programs in other curriculums such as digital film making, digital journalism, electronic music production, home studio production, hip hop production, digital video production, web site production and other creative medias.

================================================

First Stage: Audio Engineering (Diploma)

Extensive professional equipment, individual practical time and personal attention paired with a broad theoretical knowledge are all key factors that have made SAE Institute the world leader in audio engineering education.

The Audio Engineering Course prepares students for a career in the professional audio industry. Covering a wide range of subjects, graduates are trained to be all-rounders who can work in a wide range of areas: the music industry, radio, film and television, theatre, musicals and the games industry.

The course is designed for ambitious, creative people, with an exceptional flair for music, who are interested in studio and broadcast technology and would like to professionally produce music themselves - from recording and mixing to mastering.

The imaginative practical exercises and assignments in the Audio Engineer Course can include music productions in a studio, the production of advertising commercials and live sound engineering for concerts.

Second Stage: Audio Engineering Course (BA Hons Audio Production, Degree)

The second stage of SAE Institute Rotterdam's Audio Engineering Course offers the student the opportunity to gain an internationally recognized Bachelor of Arts award (Degree). The student starts the second stage of the Audio Engineering course after successfully completing the first stage of the Audio Engineering Course.

Students professionalize their approach and attitude to the industry. The student studies the cultural impact of technology in the past, the present and will be able to make predictions for the future. The student is able to analyze and understand subjects based on thorough academic methodology. This stage is most suitable for those with advanced career ambitions.

The BA Hons Audio Production is provided by SAE Institute and validated by Middlesex University, London UK. SAE Institute Rotterdam offered its first degree stage in November 2011. Other validated degree centers within the SAE network include: London, Oxford, Barcelona, Byron Bay, Munich, Berlin, Madrid, and Paris.

Due to the modular nature of our course, the student may choose to continue to any of these degree centers after completion of the first stage.

Professional Masters:

The SAE Institute also offers the opportunity to obtain a "Master of Arts" (MA) or "Master of Science" (MSc) University Degree, in cooperation with Middlesex University, London. The SAE Masters Program is characterized by its exceptional flexibility and industry knowledge.
