Polar bear says, "How exciting! I just hung out at the Arctic Centre of the University of Groningen long enough... and now I get a chance to shadow a team of real-life polar archaeologists as they plan and do their fieldwork in summer 2016.

"I wasn't convinced that the excavation of dung heaps and latrines at a mining settlement from 1904 is very 'Indiana Jones'...

"But apparently they are on the look out for all sorts of animal bones which will tell them more about how the miners used and influenced their environment.

"I'll post pictures as things happen. And please feel free to ask loads of questions about the project on my page. I'll make sure to get them answered ;) "
