Olyslager is founded in 1948 by Piet Olyslager and officially registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce on 01-03-1950. In that time he was a very well known authority within the Automotive sector and active in Car-design, Car-construction and Car-collecting. Besides this Piet was also a collector of any kind of information, brochures and magazines of cars, vans, trucks and motors. This information is still available; partly at Olyslager and partly at ECMD (European Centre for Mobility Documentation).

Piet Olyslager was active for famous brands like Bugatti and Talbot and during all the national and international contacts within the automotive industry he noticed that there was a clear and specific need for reliable technical information regarding Vehicles: by manufacturers and importers, by garage owners and consumers by the educational systems and last but not least by oil companies.

Piet OlyslagerThis growing need for accurate information was the start of the Olyslager Organisation. Directly after the second world war, Piet Olyslager started to give garages advise concerning the vehicles that were left by the Allied forces and by the Occupants. He wrote this advise on paper and added detailed exploded views to it. In 1948 he decided to write the data in a universal format and Olyslager Organisation was born.

In the following years the company grew with professional people and the diversity of products expand rapidly. Even Technical Automotive Information booklets for the consumer market were produced. These booklets were well known as “Motor Manual” or “Vraagbaak”.

End of the fifties an Oil company asked Olyslager if they could develop a Wall Chart “Service & Maintenance System” with vehicles linked to a recommendation of the Oil products of the Oil company. This Wallchart was such a success that other Oil companies rapidly followed with a similar question. The vast grown Organisation developed alternative products like booklets and information sheets. In the meanwhile Olyslager opened 2 companies abroad; in the United Kingdom and in France.

In the mid and late eighties Olyslager decided to close the foreign companies to provide all the services from The Netherlands. Over the years Olyslager was constantly growing and the stakes of the company were possessed by several different persons.

In 2002 the Olyslager Organisation was taken over by EurotaxGlass’s and again new products in car valuation were added to the product portfolio. Due to the ongoing growth of the lubrication data business and the fact that Lubricant data supply needed a different market approach than car data supply, it was decided to let the Lubricant data business of Olyslager grow by its own. The Olyslager Organisation was divested from of the EurotaxGlass’s group and continued from 2008 as an independent company with their key product: Lubrication data for the Oil Industry.

Olyslager will keep on developing state of the art tools and exploring possibilities to advise and help the Oil Companies to improve their Market share and Value.

The journey Piet Olyslager has started continues…
