Mei architects and planners is an enterprising, knowledge-intensive office that focuses on development and innovation in architecture. The office was set up in 1994 by architect Robert Winkel and is based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The work of Mei has been widely published and received numerous accolades.
Mei is particularly noted for transforming existing buildings such as the Jobsveem warehouse, The Factory Delfshaven and The Fenix warehouses in Rotterdam. Mei has also completed striking new-build projects such as Schiecentrale 4B in Rotterdam and the new McDonald's pavilion in Rotterdam (the so-called 'fanciest McDonald's in the world'). In addition, the office has drawn up international urban designs that include dynamic master plans in Norway, England and France.
