The Handira are being made for centuries in the old atlas mountains of Morocco. The idea behind the weddingblanket is to bring luck to the newly-wed couple. All women in the village gather to weave a special and unique Handira for the girl that is getting married. On the weddingday the bride and groom wear the blanket while they travel with horse or donkey to their new home.
