Follow My Challenge 3.03

It all began in November 2015 when I, as an in the Netherlands based entrepreneur in the web development and software market, came in contact with Lee Fancourt. We had one thing in common: cycling. But the one thing that was missing was Lee having a decent website. After a period of development we launched Lee's website by the end of January 2015 on https://www.leefancourt.com/

While Lee was training and focussing for his 10 upcoming Guiness World Record attempts I started developing the tracking software. There are a few reasons why we decided to start developing our own tracking software. One of the reasons is that the Spot Widget, which is provided by Spot, does only show the last 50 waypoints. In case of a challenge like Lee's Nordkoff (Norway) to Tarifa Spain (4200 miles) 50 waypoints are just a tiny fraction of the route giving it a wrong perception. Besides that, using custom tracking software means full flexibility. It allows to develop and grow where needed.

The tracker proved to be successful when first used in a real challenge in June 2015. During this challenge we had the opportunity to make small changes, do some more testing and even extend the software with new features. We came up with 'estimated distances' proved to be quite accurate (~3% off). We added averages, time elapsed and even the latest weather data based on the last known position. Oh, and offcourse Facebook like and share buttons. The tracker on this challenge got over 32 000 views from 45+ different countries!

Shortly after Lee's challenge the tracker drew the attention of record breaking adventurer Glen Burmeister. Glen, who has broken some Guiness World Records in the past is attempting to break another one in August 2015 and at least one in 2016. For both of these challenges we are going to use our custom tracker software.

July 2015. With already more then 10+ challenges in the future a new company has been born: 'Follow my challenge'.
