The apartment is situated on the upper floor of a three story building in a quiet and green area. The area was rebuilt after the heavy city bombardment of May 2014. Rotterdam's city center is a stone's throw away and is actually coming closer rapidly... The area is developing fast and new, interesting spots are opening every month. Nearby hotspots are the brand new Market Hall and the central market, the Cubic Houses, Oude Haven and Luchtsingel. De Groene Passage offers organic and sustainable products.
Walking to the South you can find a Marina, a historical inner harbour and the river Maas.
Further eastward, the stately district Kralingen is worth a visit. Majestic avenues and town houses, a beautiful Arboretum and of course Het Kralingse Bos (park) and Kralingse Plas (lake); perfect for a walk, a swim in the summer and a drink.
Rotterdam hosts some great festivals and events throughout the year, like the North Sea Jazz Festival and World Harbour Days. My personal favourite is the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in January. With a bicycle, all IFFR locations - even those on the south bank - are easy to reach.
If you're a sports fan, or a runner yourself, you'll love the NN Marathon in april. The apartment lies next to the course, at the ideal location where the runners pass the 30km as well as the 40km point.
