The worldwide CMTC-OVM is since 1997 the source for people who suffer from vascular malformations such CMTC (Van Lohuizen syndrome).
Our commitment is to support the welfare, foster well being of our patients and support the scientific research of vascular malformations such as CMTC.
The patients in our organisation have the unique opportunity to get the best research of the causes, diagnosis and the best treatment of issues related.

Cutis Marmorata Telangiectatica Congenita (CMTC) is a congenital disorder where permanently dilated
small blood vessels are discernable through the skin. CMTC is generally a relatively mild condition. However, in some circumstances, associated symptoms may occur such as port-wine stains, thinning of the skin (atrophy) and scarring of the skin or affected limbs which may be formed thinner than usual (hypotrophy) or sometimes thicker (hypertrophy). A shortening of the limbs may also occur.

Someone with CMTC will look different in some way to other people which can lead to negative reactions from within their social environment and can give rise to psychological problems for the patient. Children affected by CMTC often receive questions about this, because their condition is clearly visible. This can have a potentially negative influence on their social development and their performance at school. Other complications can vary from those of a cosmetic nature, visible veins for example, to those with serious and potentially fatal consequences. There are six known cases of children that have died as a result of complications thus far.
