Chess Festival Groningen 2.9

The 54th edition of the Chess Festival Groningen will be held from December 21 up to and including december 30, 2016.

The Chess Festival Groningen will consist of the following components:

University of Groningen Chess Challenge

Open A (>2000) (21 - 30 December)
Prize fund: € 6000,-

Open B (>1700, <2100) (21 - 30 December)
Prize fund: € 1500,-

Open C (<1700) (21 - 30 December)
Prize fund: € 750,-

The Open A, B and C will play a 9 round Swiss tournament.

4-person Round robin (21-23 December). 3 games in a group of 4 players. First prize €30,-, Second prize €15,-.

Groningen Compact (26 - 30 December)
A five round Swiss tournament in groups of about 40 players, split up according to playing strength.
First prize in each group: € 200,-; prize fund per group: € 600,-.
