Beckers Meubelen is founded in 1910 by Theo Beckers senior, in the small village of Amstenrade, in the southern part of the province of Limburg, the Netherlands.
Only a few years later, in 1914, the company moves to the Akerstraat Noord in Hoensbroek. Now, over a 100 years later, the company is still located in the same place.

In the beginning the company produces wooden windows and doors, and wooden furniture of all kinds in their own carpenter’s workshop.

After World War II, in the beginning of the fifties, the second generation of the Beckers family takes over the company. The furniture collection expands to include curtains, carpets and lights as well as furniture. Now already the owners show interest in Danish design.

During the sixties the carpenter’s workshop becomes increasingly more important to the company. In the workshop at the Hommerterweg they make all kinds of furniture in all sizes, mainly from solid oak. The company even develops and produces its own series of dining-room chairs.
Good craftsmanship was then, as it is at present-days, still a very important part of the company’s identity.

In 1988 the third generation of the Beckers family takes over, and changes in the management as well as in the collection are soon evident. The new owners, Theo and Marlou Beckers, are very fascinated by Danish furniture design, and the decision to put more focus on the Danish furniture is quickly made.

Danish furniture is known by its high level of quality and by the use of the best materials only. Good craftsmanship combined with the use of noble wood as solid oak, beech, teak and cherry. The result: beautifully shaped furniture with the unique Scandinavian character.

Next to the well-known traditional wooden furniture, the Danish manufacturers offer a huge collection of new design furniture. Famous names as Hans J. Wegner, Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjærholm guarantee furniture of a classic and unique design. Models designed up to thirty years ago, are still considered as modern.

That is why we call it “Timeless Danish Design”.
