purpose of this action plan 2GetThere South Africa is to implement the vision and goals of UBUNTU4ALL using the successful methods of 2GetThere in the Hout Bay area. In 2014, and the beginning of 2015, we worked on the preparation of this project, which will be launched at the end of 2015.
The purpose of this plan is also to provide insight into the successful formula that is 2GetThere, and to realize a practical approach for the townships of Cape Town. Here we use the factors that have proven visibly successful in Arnhem, the birthplace of 2GetThere. However, the major problems that often occur in the lives of young people in Hout Bay calls for other support. In addition to the peer-to-peer coaching formula based on experience and expertise, this plan will include support such as therapeutic help as needed. UBUNTU4ALL has a solid and safe environment and the underlying conditions necessary to start the peer-to-peer project.

2GetThere is a successful peer-to-peer coaching initiative involving young people from diverse groups and backgrounds, who have committed themselves as inspiration for other young people, teaching them to live out loud. The initiative focusses on growth and development implemented by young people who speak the same language and live in the same environment. A Youth Coach helps young people from his / her own environment and even within their own network – school, work or a combination of both. This often occurs in conjunction with relief and benefit organizations for young people, and with organizations in the field of sports and culture.

Self-reliance, personal strength and personal growth
The main purpose of 2GetThere is encouraging self-reliance, personal strength and personal growth in young people. The practical goal is to lead young people to school, work or a combination of both and prevent fallout. In South Africa the main objective will be initially looking to find and teach perspective on the gravity of the situations for young people there, as they (often) differ greatly of the problems youths face in Holland. Without perspective, a situation is seemingly hopeless. Finding trust, the realization that you are able to change your current situation, a role model that is slightly more together than you and who will know how to help you based on experience, expertise and coaching what you can do yourself and how. That is how the system works. Below you will read about our mission, vision and core values.
Mission 2GetThere
2GetThere offers with professional attention, love and understanding to help young people who are stranded. A youth coach 2GetThere asks questions, inspires, looks and thinks, knows the roads and where they lead. The purpose of the initiative is to bring young people ‘2GetThere’ so that they learn more about themselves, learn to believe in themselves and gain confidence in a future full of possibilities. Self-reliance and personal strength are important elements on the road to healthy adulthood.
Vision 2GetThere
The time in which we live requires a new approach. An approach is necessary that is focused of attention, space and trust and teaches young people to connect to these values once again. 2GetThere wants young people to again know of their own strength and their own abilities. The 2GetThere team is characterized by her experience, expertise and diversity.
Core values 2GetThere
Our behavior is based on our core values:
Own the power of, for and by young people: outreach and bridge trust and space.
Those values are apparent in the way we operate and are organized. Let young people experience their own power again and inspire growth and self-sufficiency.

2GetThere is "for young people, by young people." Our youth coaches speak the language of their peers: "We understand what young people need and what they care about." The youth coaches of 2GetThere serve as role models, deliver personal advice and look at what is needed as far as professional support. They do this through outreach programs and form a bridge with the existing services. To do this diligently, professionally and with heart, we believe in respecting trust and space. We are convinced that this is the basis for young people to break through limiting beliefs and to build a positive road towards the future.
Our views on counseling with 2GetThere
2GetThere has a specific view on the guidance plans of and by young people. Unlike working with schematic models, 2GetThere works from the heart with their own techniques. Below we will now describe our approach.
From methodology to the young person as an instrument
The young person is at the heart of 2GetThere. He is his own instrument. 2GetThere’s coaches did not initially train to be useful for our "invented" society, and how they might fit in this, they are trained to look beyond this and other stigmas. We approach young people and their coaches equivalently and respectfully, aiming to bring them into contact with the potential that exists within them. Regardless of whether the company requests it, but based on the confidence that if someone is connected to their talent and their personal strength, they will find their place in society, and much easily at that.
Be who you want to be, or to be who you are
We look for our coaches to aid young people during the coaching sessions to find what drives them from the inside. Not so much to fit into what they think society wants, but what they need to develop. What do they need to flourish? Where is their inspiration? And where are their blockages that often arise because they are geared too much to their environment instead of their own frame of reference.
Set patterns for inspiration and dynamism
At present, young people are taught at schools (or another cognitive level) what role they are to fit into in society. A role, a task or function that “we” think it is needed. But is it not true that things in life are often different than planned? Life is changeable. There is a constant movement, continuous in all stages of life. Being able to follow these natural dynamics is essential. With this we continue to adapt to developments in young people from the inside, on their insights and processing abilities. This explains why the young people we sometimes accompany in their daily life are back on track quickly if they are derailed. They are again connected to themselves and their goals, and know how to make sound choices.
What should be, to recognize what is
We often overlook intrinsic motivation, intuition and meaning. Where is the real interest of a youth and a youth coach? Who is the coach? Who is this young person? What's important to him and of value to him? This is different for everyone. It is important to put the youngster to the challenge of finding their personal values, as from this comes strength, and from personal strength comes the power of conviction.
Self-confidence equals confidence
Not self-assurance, but self-confidence. It is imperative that one comes into contact with inner values and their own strength. Our experience with this group is that they come to feel connected in a very short timeframe with our approach, because they feel seen and heard. Change can only take place when there is a sense of recognition for what has been and is playing in a person’s life. Listening without judgment is also crucial. The movement we want to achieve is that young people stop moving away from their own standards, frame of reference, and external motivations, but instead seek motivation that comes from within. And which is therefore much more powerful.
Managing space and trust
The young people who need assistance from 2GetThere are not to adapt to a system of extensive regulations and procedures. The goal is to create time and attention, at an equivalent level. They can be who they are. This gives space to the potential that exists within them. These young people have fallen out of the picture and get the opportunity to be seen again. These times call for a broader scope. Look beyond your own front door. See who you're talking to

Opzet
