Kinse is a former ryokan (traditional Japanese-style inn) officially designated as a historic scenic building by Kyoto city. The building was built in the 18th century, but the Western-style room on the first floor was renovated about 100 years ago and now houses a cafe/bar. The second floor guest rooms are all outfitted with tatami mats and traditional futons.
