The Keio International Center for the Internet & Society (KICIS) is a research group at Keio University affiliated with the Global Security Research Institute (G-SEC) headed by former MIC Minister and Keio Professor Heizo Takenaka. KICIS was launched in April 2012 and now has offices on Keio University’s Mita Campus (Downtown Tokyo) and Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC).
KICIS was created to deepen Keio’s collaboration with university Internet research centers globally and to promote a deeper understanding of policy developments in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region as related to Internet economy and governance.
KICIS is the Asian “hub” for the “Network of Networks,” a global alliance of major Internet research centers led by Harvard University’s Berkman Center for the Internet & Society and a founding member of the “Asia Forum on Cybersecurity and Privacy” together with Korea University’s Cyber Law Center.
KICIS is also the coordinator of the Association of Pacific Rim University's Internet Governance Initiative
