◇About the Bed & Art Project (BnA)◇

The Bed & Art Project (BnA) is an ambitious art hospitality project that aims to support Japanese artists while providing a unique and unforgettable experience of "staying in an art piece" in Japan.

Up to date, BnA has produced three locations in Japan:
- BnA HOTEL Koenji (Tokyo, est. Mar 2016): Community based art hotel with two rooms, a gallery and a bar
- BnA MACHIYA Kyoto (Kyoto, est. Aug 2016): A 100+ year old Japanese house renovated with 9 local artists
- BnA GALLERY Ikebukuro (Tokyo, est Feb 2015): "A gallery you can stay in", an Airbnb property near Ikebukuro with a revolving art gallery


◇BnA HOTEL Koenji◇

Artist hotel - BnA hotel Koenji is an independent Art hotel produced by the Bed & Art Project (BnA).
Each room is designed and built by a local Japanese artists and a team of architects, textile designers, and carpenters.

The bar, gallery, and rooftop lounge inside the cozy complex hosts a number of events year-round, and allows the guests to interact with the community in a social setting.

◇Support the Local Artists◇

BnA utilizes art hotel rooms as a means to support up-and-coming Japanese artists while offering art-loving travelers the unique experience of staying in a functional work of art. Artists receive a share of the profits from each room booking. Art aficionados visiting Japan often find it hard to gain access to the hidden artistic community of Tokyo. BnA’s vision is a creative solution that helps both the local artists with international ambitions, and the international travelers with a local appetite.

Currently two rooms are available, and we plan to expand more rooms all around Koenji, turning the whole neighborhood into an art hotel.

◇About the Bed & Art Project (BnA)◇

「泊まれるアート」をテーマに、旅行者と日本のアーティストが交流できる物理的なプラットフォームを構築する実験的なプロジェクト。

旅行者は気鋭のアーティストたちが作り上げた一つの作品の中に泊まるという他にはない体験が出来るだけでなく、その裏にあるコミュニティーにもアクセスができる。

これまで、「BnA gallery Ikebukuro」、「BnA machiya Kyoto」、２つのプロジェクトをAirbnb上でコンセプトテストとして発表。
国内外のメディアから注目を浴び、世界中から様々なクリエイターが宿泊に訪れた。

２つのテストプロジェクトの成功を受け、より地域・コミュニティーに密着した本格的なホテル、「BnA Hotel Koenji」を２０１６年３月にオープン。


◇BnA'S GOAL◇

アートの市場が小さい日本において、才能あふれるアーティストの発信の場や成功への道の多様化と同時に、日本のアートに関心が高い海外旅行者にアート・コミュニティーへのアクセスを拡大することを目的とする。

利益の一部を参加アーティストに還元することによって、アーティストの活躍の場を増やし、同時にコミュニティーとして継続した関係を構築していく。

将来的には、クリエイティブなコミュニティーを持続可能な形で世界に発信し、マネタイズできる一つのモデルとして世界中への展開を目指す。

◇BnA HOTEL Koenji◇

BnA Hotel Koenjiは「アートの中に泊まる」のもう一歩先、「街中にアートルームを散りばめて、高円寺全体をホテルにする」、世界初の試み。　１つのビルで完結するのでは無く、部屋を高円寺中に２～３部屋ずつ散らばった形にする。

中心となる「フロントデスク」であるバー＆ギャラリーと、その周辺、高円寺中に２～３部屋のアートルームの「クラスター(塊)」を複数展開。ゲストはまずこのフロントデスクバーでチェックインしてから、それぞれの部屋に案内され、町中に散らばっていく。今後は既存のビジネスとも協業して、ホテルの様々な機能を街に分散させていき、最終的に高円寺で30～40部屋の展開を計画する。

　今回はその第1ステップとして、高円寺の北口駅前徒歩30秒の3階建ての建物を改装し、今後の展開のコアとなる「フロントデスク」をオープン。フロントデスクでは2部屋のアートホテルルームの他に、地元のクリエイティブコミュニティーが遊び、発信できるバー・ギャラリーを併設。
