Anan is a city located in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan. The city was founded on May 1, 1958.As of 2016, the city has an estimated population of 72,447 and a population density of 260 persons per km². The total area is 279.39 km².On March 20, 2006, the towns of Hanoura and Nakagawa (both from Naka District) were merged into Anan.Nichia, a global LED and electronic materials manufacturer has its headquarters in the city. Also in the city is the static inverter plant of Kii Channel HVDC system.
