木花開耶姫命（このはなのさくやひめのみこと）は、火を放った産屋で無事に子を産んだ言い伝えにより、安産、子育ての守り神として古くから信仰を集めてきました。

The worshipped goddess in this shrine is called "Konohana no sakuyahime no mikoto". It means "The beautiful princess who is like cherry blossom". She is a very beautiful goddess and her virtues are safe childbirth and good child-rearing because of Japanese myth.

富士山は日本一美しい山ですが、かつては火山としてたびたび噴火を繰り返していました。その激しい噴火を鎮め、同時に新しい生命を生み出す神として、火中で無事に子を生んだという言い伝えから、木花開耶姫命をご祭神としています。

The myth says she gave birth to three gods in fire safely. The myth also says she was given Mt.Fuji from her father, so the goddess is also an incarnation of Mt. Fuji. The mountain is a most beautiful one in Japan, but it has recurred eruptions. The goddess has been enshrined at the mountain to calm down the eruption.
