Not many people are aware that the oldest college of Delhi University is Zakir Husain Delhi College. In fact the college holds the distinction of being in existence well before the establishment of Delhi University. It carries within itself a history of nearly 300 years as an institution of learning. In the late 18th century, the Madrasa Ghaziuddin, as it was then called, was famous for education in literature, science and arts. Later on it came to be known as Anglo-Arabic College, and then as Delhi College in 1824 and remained so till 1975.
