The Torn Curtains was established in 1971 by a group of people who were dedicated to making theatre an enjoyable and meaningful experience. The late Ramann Rao, a great Actor and Director of those times, the very versatile theatre and Hollywood personality Tony Mirchandani and Mala Pasha took the Torn Curtains to great heights of popularity.

Some of The Torn Curtains earliest productions were plays like:
“The Letter” by Somerset Maugham,
“Time to Kill” by Diana Morgan,
Jean Anouilh’s “Antigone”,
Anthony Shaffer’s “Murderer”,
Derek Benfield’s “In for the Kill”,
Becket by Anouilh, “Gas Light” by Patrick Hamilton,
Love, Divorce and Carrot Juice by Tony Mirrchandani,
Lights Out by Manjula Padmanabhan, and
Where There’s a Will by Mahesh Dattani .

The more recent plays are, “Meri Kahani”, “Karaoke Killer”, “Behind the Bra”, “Half a Cup Full”, “Murder Me Always”, “The Class Reunion”, “The Storm Within…stories of Abuse” and "Tea With Everything".

Every year The Torn Curtains initiates fresh talent & memberships so that the Theatre Movement in Hyderabad and the country moves from strength to strength. Periodic workshops are held to hone the skills of veterans and introduce youngsters into the scenario of performing arts.
