>>> What is TED?

TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is a non-profit organization owned by Sapling Foundation. A TED talk is an annual conference held in Monterey, California, with a spirit to propagate “Ideas Worth Spreading” without any political, religious, and racial bias since 1984. In these talks, eminent orators from all over the globe share their ideas on intriguing themes suiting their area of expertise. Each talk is of 18-20 minutes. The caliber of the speakers is what makes these talks unique. Past speakers include the likes of Bill Clinton, Stephen Hawking, Steve Jobs, Al Gore, Larry Page and many others.

‘TEDIndia’ was held in November 2009 in Mysore, India, celebrating and exploring the bright future of South Asia. The speakers included technocrats like Nandan Nilekani, Pranav Mistry; activists like Mallika Sarabhai, Shukla Bose, and politicians like Shashi Tharoor etc.

The TEDx program gives communities, organizations, and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogues through TED-like experiences at a local level.

TEDxLive is a type of TEDx event where communities gather to watch the live webcast of the official, annual TED conference. It makes the TED Conference more open, its impact more immediate and global. The webcast may be followed by live-talks as well.
