Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala (Degree) was started in the year 1983-84.Autonomous status was conferred on the college from the Academic year 2003-04.Two Post Graduate courses-M.Com & M.Sc(Mathemetics) were started from year 2003-04.The Academic Programmes are being continuously updated. Keeping its tradition of upgradation of programs according to the changing needs,the college introduced “Choice Based Credit System” from the academic year 2005-06 and also a good number of Diversified and Certificate Courses.The uniform is introduced to all the students from the academic year 2005-06 to inculcate the spirit fraternity.

The college is situated in a spacious campus facing the Mahatma Gandhi Road in Labbipet, (Venkateswarapuram) Vijayawada – 10. The college is gifted with ideal surroundings, which provide conductive atmosphere for calm and uninterrupted functioning of the institution. The college building constructed in the permanent site is a huge ‘U’ shaped structure with four floors consisting of more than 82 rooms providing adequate accommodation.

Laboratories and classrooms are well equipped, Library and Reading room facilities are adequately provided. Facilities are also available for indoor and outdoor games. Besides these facilities there is a Hostel attached to the college in the same premises and special coaching is arranged for hostellers. With the constant guidance and encouragement given by the Management and Sri.P.Lakshmana Rao,the Convenor,the college marches ahead with many new programmes,keeping up the traditions established during the past 29 years.

The college is gifted with not only beautiful buildings, calm atmosphere and all facilities but also well experienced, qualified and dedicated team of teachers and the percentage of passes since its inception has been constantly excellent.

The college has earned enviable reputation on all fronts. The students have won a good name for themselves and fame for the institution in Cultural, Curricular, Extra-curricular and sports activities adding new dimensions to the college year after year. The students have set high academic standards by achieving many ranks and gold medals instituted by the University in different subjects. Some of the students of the college have carved a niche for themselves among their fraternity all over the state by winning scores of prizes in Literary, Cultural and Sports competitions.
