A Shelter to shelter-less Blind Old Aged Ladies

Introduction

India has around 9 million Blind. And, there are homes for the Blind sprinkled all over the country. But none there was till 1985 for Aged Blind Ladies. Therefore, the Poona Blind Men's Association, banged on with a unique idea to provide shelter to the shelter less and destitute blind old ladies. And, as the result - A beautiful building with a built in capacity of 60 residents was opened on 2nd November 1985 by Hon'ble Gyani Zail Singh, Former President of India at Nandedphata, Village Dhayri on Pune-Sinhgad Road. The land for this project was made available by Shri.Ramchandra Dagdoba Dalvi, a local Philanthropist.

The Home

This Home now accommodates 49 blind ladies aged 46 to 89 years, so many was benefited over 100 earlier, all destitute who were hunting for a shelter. Not only are they provided with a decent shelter, they have all facilities for a happy living - all absolutely free of cost.

The Day

Their day starts with a morning tea or coffee, followed by Bhajans over radio. Breakfast at around 9am, Lunch at around 12:30pm, afternoon tea at around 3pm and dinner at around 6:30pm, a cup of Milk in the night, before they sleep are served which is prepared at home. The day they spent for some useful and productive activities like knitting, stitching, other handicraft, Bhajans, storytelling, reading by volunteers & by self of Braille books, evening common 'Arati', enjoying music & T.V. programs & most of the times radio is a good friend of many. Regular visits by a local doctor takes care of their health needs with a resident clinical assistant (Nurse). And cases for hospitalization are referred to the various city hospitals & the expenses taken cared by the Organization. Almost 22 regular and dedicated social workers (Volunteers) in the home shares their sorrows and happiness and this gives the residents a lot of mental solace.

All these services are rendered totally free - And unless 'YOU HELP' us to extend these services to more and more really needy aged blind Granee's, who else will..?

How to Donate -

Donation will bring in cheer to our blind Granee's as we serve a sumptuous lunch to them on a day informed by you to commemorate any special day in your life.
Rs.6000/- for full day sponsorship (Includes - 3 Teas, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & A cup of Milk in the night)
Rs.2500/- for one meal.
Rs.1000/- for Breakfast.
Rs. 25000/- for one year 'Granee's' sponsorship.
Rs.1500/- for Granee’s cultural costume.
