Shalom Children's Home 3.08

SHALOM RESIDENTIAL CHILDCARE PROGRAM: It has 120 children from the leprosy parents. The leprosy parents live in various leper colonies. Their livelihood is begging and rag-picking. Early in the morning they go to beg and they only return in the evening. Their children either go with their parents for begging or are left behind in the leper colonies unprotected. Because leprosy is a stigma in India, it is not possible for these children to get a good life and education. Keeping these facts in mind we bring these underprivileged children in Shalom Home. We provide them, food, education, medical care and above all we share the Gospel with them.

SHALOM CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRE: All the children who come under this program are the children whose parents live below the poverty line. They are poorest of the poor. Most of them live in slums and the villages where there is hardly any facilities. No proper living condition, no proper sanitation, no proper drinking water. Their houses are made of plastics and rust tin or grass roof. These children fight for their for their survival. We provide them, food supplies, school books, school fees and medicals. Also we help parents to form Self Help Groups (SHGs), we also help them to get loans to buy goats, cows to get some income for their families. There are 1066 children in this program. We have a vision that these underprivileged children and their families stand on their own feet. The children instead of going for the child labor may go to school to get what he/she deserves-education.
