Shakambari is Radha and Charanya Narayanaswamy’s tribute to handpicked traditional Indian attire. Like many other online stores, Shakambari had its humble beginnings at their home in the heart of Madras where the mother-daughter pair lovingly sold the finest of sarees to friends and relatives.

Ten years later, in 2013, they decided to make their business the ‘go to’ for Indian apparel in a variety of formats, colours, textures and designs. Through their Facebook page, Charanya reached out to connoisseurs of the finest Indian clothing, living overseas. Her online business began to export to Malaysia and Singapore and soon people were coming back, recognising not just the fine quality of their favourite silk but also the team’s attention to detail.

By 2014, with a presence at the sophisticated City Centre Mall, Shakambhari invaded the and captured the attention of customers who were after handpicked ethnic wear and convenience-focused tailoring units.

It is the combination of the owners’ eye for beauty and their passion for offering a personal attention to customers that has captured the hearts of patrons in India, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Canada amongst others.

The Madras-mami entrepreneurs continue to remain focused on quality and the ’Shakambari’ experience that they constantly travel and meet with the highly skilled weavers across the country to offer the most beautiful Indian ethnic apparel to their customers and withstand in the following tradition from all aspects.
