RuTAG: Rural Technology Action Group

The RuTAG centre at IIT Kanpur has been set up to develop and disseminate technologies to people in rural areas. It provides a linkage between grass-root organization and technical institutions. The projects taken are those demanded by people in field, could be for technology upgradation, hi-tech delivery, technology training and demonstration or through any other innovative method.

The RuTAG centre at IIT Kanpur is bringing together teams of students, staff and faculty, entrepreneurs and NGOs as partners in the research, development and deployment activities. It proposes to take up projects on technology development which can lead to mini and micro entrepreneurship activity in areas such as sustainable development, renewable energy; artisanal technology and rural industries. RuTAG IIT Kanpur has been set up with the support of Office of Principal Scientific Advisor, Government of India.
