Ramtek is very well known city from religious,historical and mythological point of view.This is very old city and blessed with lord Rama.The various dynasty like as ‘Mourya’,’Ashoka’,’Satvahan’,’Wakataka’ and ‘Yadava’ ruled here having ancient tradition.From the nature’s point of view it has Pench project,plenty of mines coal,Totladoh Dam,Green vallys and hills,lots of Lakes,excavation at Mansar,Khindsi,Ramdham and different tourist points.
In the year 250 the the Mourya Dynasty ruled here,King Ashoka was the ruler here.During Satvahan age the main place was Pravarup today known as ‘Mansar’.The supporting point for this is the excavation of mansard.That time Mansar was the center of political movement. There after in the year 350 this was won by the Vakatak deafeting the Satvahana.The Vakatak ruled here even they ruled on whole Vidarbha and deccan province.They kept two capital for ruling hence named ‘Washim’ and ‘Nagardhan’.Great poet Kalidas was one of the talented poet during the time of Vakataka.He had written the epic ‘Meghadoot’ here on hills of Ramgiri.In the past 12th century ‘Devgiri Yadav’ monopolized and started ruling here.At 1204 during Sultan period ‘Allauddin Khilji’ defeated the King Yadava and ended it in 1318 there after Yadava disappeared from Ramtek.
The Yadava King kept a architecture named ‘Hemadri’.He built many Temples and named them as ‘Hemadpanthi’ temple.
