MARUTHUA PHARMA, an independent Ayurvedic research and drug manufacturing company was established at Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala in 1983. Founded by Mr.B.Sasidharan, an ardent proponent of Ayurveda and an enthusiastic entrepreneur, Maruthua Pharma concentrate on research and manufacture of new Ayurvedic formulations based strictly on the observations made in ancient texts. It also manufactures popular medicines for common ailments. Kowdiar Padmanabha Pillai, a renowned Ayurvedic Physican who was associated with the Travancore royal family provided Mr. Sasidharan with all the necessary subject know-how and encouragement in this venture. Padmanabha Pillai, a stickler for traditions and implementation of drug manufacturing procedures also initially functioned as chief physician and controller of production and quality in the company.

Currently, Dr. Anithamol, BAMS and Dr.Kaimal, BAMS, both qualified Ayurvedic physicians are in the employ of the firm for supervising various research and production functions
