Koshish Foundation - Lucknow 2.47

Koshish Foundation was started in 2003 based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, as an initiative to educate the community children of nearby slum area, specifically the girls and bring them in the mainstream of the society. The children include from age 4 years to 16 years. In 2006 Koshish Foundation was registered with the State Government. It gets financial support from the Zaka’at and contributions from our family and very close friends and relatives. The discipline is being observed till date and is being run independently since then without and government aid.

Main objective is to educate the students staying nearby locality who can’t go to school on their own. The students who are regular and perform well are admitted to mainstream schools. All their education expenses, uniforms, books and stationary expenses are borne by the foundation.
Initially the main objective as mentioned was to educate underprivileged children but later on it was decided to make them learn stitching, Chikankari, Glass painting, Envelope making, Diwali Diya making etc. the clothes and other items made were purchased by close relatives and by this practice the children became small earners supporting their family.
Recently, Koshish Foundation decided to help its students in applying for the Pre-Metric Scholarships of the Central Government. The Foundation provided all the logistics support to the students.
The Foundation also supports for the genuine medical needs of the students and their parents and anyone who approaches us.
