The Institute of Apparel Management (IAM), was inaugurated in September 2007 by former Union Minister of Textiles, Sh. Shankar Singh Vaghela. On 25th Feb, 2009 IAM’s significant contribution was noted as Generation next institution by the Smt. Rita Menon, IAS, Secretary (Textiles, GoI) during IAM's 1st Convocation. IAM has been termed as key institution for shaping industry ready professional and skilled manpower for the Apparel Industry. IAM is promoted by AEPC Society for Human Resource Development under the aegis of Apparel Export Promotion Council. IAM hence becomes the only institution in India supported by the apparel industry offering programs that are sector specific and industry driven catering to the fast growing needs of Apparel & Fashion industry.
IAM’s mandate has been to train junior/middle level managerial cadre for “Business of Fashion”, by creating a distinctive position, while other institutions are more oriented towards imparting only degree/diploma in vocation. IAM through its ultra-modern facilities like Fashion Innovation Lab (FIL) has been instrumental in training “Gen-Next” Design Managers, Digital Merchandisers, Apparel Technocrats, Retail professionals with knowledge and know how of latest technology.
