Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Kerala is a premier institution of excellence in Science, Technology and Management related to Information that develops professionals and leaders of high calibre imbued with values of entrepreneurship, ethics and social responsibility. IIITM-K actively promote higher education through its IT facilitated education programs and services across Kerala and beyond. Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala was set up by Govt. of Kerala in the year 2000. as a premier institute of excellence in post graduate education and research in the area of Information Technology and allied areas. The Institution is a non-profit making autonomous institution and is registered under Section 8 Companies Act 2013 . All the shares of the Company is held by Government of Kerala and the management of the Institute is vested in a Board of Directors comprising eminent industrialists, academicians and senior Government officials appointed by Government of Kerala.Information Technology is an important tool for development of different areas of knowledge economy. India is emerging as a global player in the field of Information Technology. There has been a steady rise of software and IT sector in India since 1990’s. As the IT industry is expanding rapidly, manpower requirement is growing exponentially. In order to develop manpower for different areas of the knowledge economy, education and training of information technology is a core prerequisite. The MHRD department of Central Government has decided to start IIITs in different states.Government of Kerala is always in the forefront for providing quality education and has excelled in the sphere of literacy and has been a guiding example and inspiration for the other states in India. Realizing the growth of IT sector and the need for highly trained manpower within the state, the state has taken positive steps towards establishing leadership in the fast growing Information Technology field, a high-power committee consisting of leading figures of Industry, Academia and Government was constituted by the Government of Kerala, to initiate steps towards establishing a premier institute of Information Technology and Management. Based on the deliberations of the committee, the Government of Kerala decided to set up the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala .
