Hand in Hand Academy for Social Entrepreneurship imparts academic knowledge and practical experience in building sustainable businesses at the “bottom of the pyramid." The Academy has been set up with the vision to alleviate poverty through job creation and incubate new businesses.
A 66,000 sq ft state of the art facility houses the Academy in the historic silk city of Kancheepuram, 70 km from Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu.
The Academy has access to one million micro-businesses created through a systematic process of mobilization, training, and funding at Hand in Hand. This business creation model has won global acclaim for its innovative design honed over years of implementation in Asia, Africa and South America. The Academy distils this experience and imparts knowledge in a structured manner to committed individuals, in its journey to alleviate poverty.
The vision is to create entrepreneurs who will find solutions for social problems through sustainable businesses. The mission is to offer a mix of academic programs to passionate individuals to equip them with tools and insights for creating businesses that fulfil social priorities.
The Academy will collaborate with Harvard Business School and other practitioners in designing programs, delivering knowledge sessions and offering practical mentoring for students.
The Academy has established an enabling ecosystem that fosters an entrepreneurial climate, including creating an "out-of-box" ideation atmosphere, mentoring and hand-holding support, and providing access to seed capital.
Establishing a social enterprise requires an action-oriented mindset, an ability to influence people, a willingness to collaborate and lead organizations to create change.
The curriculum of the Academy is designed to be practical and the course content will prepare you for your journey to start a social enterprise.
