Haji Devji Jamal was Born in Bhavnagar, Gujrat in 1820 in a rich mercantile family

He shifted his business to Bombay in 1850 and eventually moved to Zanzibar

He was Ismaili but he used to pray Namaz, Keep Rozas and also conduct the Majilis of Imam Hussain (a.s)

He was blessed with 6 sons and Haji Nazarali Devji Jamal was his 4th Son

Haji Nazarali Devji Jamal was the founder of Haji Nazar Ali Imambargah, Kurla

He Purchased the said plot of Land on which the Imambargah is now standing in the year 1905 to construct Imambaragah in the memories of his beloved father who passed away in Jan 1905.

The Original Imambargah Building was approx. 2000 Sq. Ft. which was constructed by him and his brother in law Mr. Noor Mohammed Hemraj from their personal funds.

Haji Nazar Ali Devji Jamal passed away in Mumbai on 18th October 1930.

He is buried in Karbala in Wadi-Al-Qadeem Graveyard.

After the dead of Haji Nazarali Devji Jamal his son Mohammed Jaffer Devji took care of Imambargah until 1945 and shifted to zanzibar.

He handed over the responsibility of the Imambargah to Abdul Hussain Bachoo Jeevan who looked after the Imambargah until his death till 1969.

In 1981 Haji Roshan Ali Sharif Panjwani along with Yusuf Bhai Panjwani and Suleman Merchant laid the foundation of Madrassa at the Imambargah in 1981 in Gents and Late Mrs. Hajiyani Mariyam Banu Panjwani established ladies Majlis in Imambargah at 4:00 Pm.

In 1979 Yusufbhai Panjwani started a small madrassa at his own residence

In 1981 He laid the foundation of Madrassa in Imambargah

In 1985 he started conducting majilis of 5 Ashraas till Arbaeen in Muharram

In 1991 he took the initiative to conduct various programs in Rajab, Shabaan and Zilhaj which continues till date.

In 2000 he along with Safderbhai Karmali decided to start Namaz-E-Jamaat in the Imambargah

In 2002 he also establish the practice of daily Iftaar in the Month of Mahe Ramzan

And along with Yusufbhai Panjwani his Son Mohammed Jaffer Panjwani has been involved in the activities of the Imambargah Since a very young age.
