Odisha is a state of rich culture and heritage .It is being surrounded by sea on one side and by four states on other side. Odisha , as it was known in ancient history as Kalinga ,finds its reference in Mahabharat time also. There were kings who ruled over Odisha like Kharavela who fought not only for the pride of Odisha but also joined forces to fight the foreign invaders who were attacking our country at that point of time. He also undertook different public health activities like establishment of treatment centers for pilgrims visiting the holy city of Puri, planting plantations and digging deep wells for supplying clean drinking water for the people.
But now Odisha lags behind the rest of our country in terms of Human development Index and also in various health parameters like Maternal Mortality Rate, Infant Mortality rate, Under 5 mortality rate. Odisha is also having high prevalence and mortality rates in diseases like Malaria, dengue and other infectious diseases. Various studies have also shown the increasing rates of prevalence of non-communicable diseases like cancers and cardiovascular diseases.
Odisha comprises of 47,529 villages . In those villages there is little or no awareness regarding issues related to health, different schemes that are being launched by government and also issues of national importance. This state of affairs is being exploited by elements which are inimical not only to the society but also to the nation.
So we intend to start this organization to address these issues from the grass root level. Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who was born on 6th of July 1901 stands for nationalism and development for all. He also sacrificed his life for the sake of national integrity and also belongs to the eastern region of our country and will be our guiding inspiration. This Organization exclusively comprises team of health professionals which includes doctors, medical students, paramedical staffs. The organization also includes livelihood experts and social activists.
Aims and Objectives:-
1. To create awareness regarding health and issues of national importance among general public.
2. To provide promotive, preventive and curative health services for general population.
3. To educate general public about various health problems through health camps, blood donation, camps etc.
4. To prove provide emergency medical services and relief in case of disasters.
5. To undertake screening programmes for various non-communicable diseases.
6. To provide help and support to the people who are being referred to the tertiary medical institutions like the medical colleges.
7. To create awareness regarding various central government schemes among general public and ensure community participation in these schemes.
8. To Undertake various livelihood programmes for sustainable development of the community.
