Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Centre for Philosophy and Indian Culture 2.62

Dr. Radhakrishnan, as Professor of Philosophy at the University of Mysore, resided in the University Quarters situated in Saraswatipuram, popularly known as ‘Radhakrishnan’s Bungalow’. The building is in existence for more than 100 years and was constructed using lime mortar and terracotta tiles for flooring even before the University of Mysore came into being in 1916. This heritage building which was in dilapidated condition has been renovated in 2012 with the financial assistance and support extended by Prof. M.R. Doreswamy, Member of Karnataka Legislative Council and Founder President of PES Educational Institutions, Bangalore. Now, Dr.S.Radhakrishnan Centre for Philosophy and Indian Culture of the University is functioning from September 5th 2013 with the following objective and activities.
MAIN OBJECTIVE:
To study and disseminate the philosophy of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and to develop the institution as a centre for knowledge and research in the field of philosophy and Indian culture.

ACTIVITIES :
1. To encourage research on the philosophy of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, covering his writings and speeches and its relevance to the society.
2. To develop a museum by collecting and displaying the materials and photographs of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.
3. To build the library collections in the disciplines of religion, philosophy and Indian culture and extend the library facility to the students, researchers, faculty, including the public who are interested in philosophical studies.
4. To develop and host a portal giving access to the details of life and works by and on Dr. S Radhakrishnan and also provide web links to other related sites
5. To bring out publications from the Centre on the topics of philosophy and Indian culture with special emphasis on the philosophy of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.
6. To conduct extension programmes covering book talks, special lectures, seminars and conferences in the field of philosophy and Indian culture for the benefit of academicians and general public.
