The legacy of Dr. Gopal Pillai goes way back in time. He created a new epoch in health care in the region. After completing this medical education from the prestigious Madras Medical College in 1939 and travelling extensively across Europe, Dr. Pillai set up his hospital to promote safe and healthy lifestyle.

He was always in touch with the best in his generation. In fact, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru visited Dr. Pillai’s house during his Nagercoil visit. Dr. Pillai and his team did some pioneering work in the fields of obstetrics and neonatal care besides general medicine in the region.

This legacy is the motivating force behind Dr. M. Gopal Pillai’s Jawahar Hospital, which is currently a 50-bedded hospital which offers services in the fields of Gastroenterology, Laparoscopy, Endoscopy, obstetrics, Gynaecology, Urology and Orthopaedics.
