Respected Sir/Madam,
Greetings of the season. That on 13th October 2014 DDRT (District Disaster Response Team) Mangalore ,Dakshina Kannada was formed. DDRT works under Junior Red Cross and Youth Red Cross which is a sub –committee under Indian Red cross Society, Dakshina Kannada District. DDRT was formed to create awareness about disaster mitigation and also to train students and public to support themselves and also support the rescue forces deployed by the government in times of disasters.
DDRT will be headed by its Director Mr.Santhosh Peter D’Souza ,B.A.(L) LL.B . who is also the District Co-ordinator of JRC/YRC
The District Co-ordinator Mr.Nithin ,B.A. will lead the DDRT.
Two Deputy District Co-ordinators Miss Shukla Das ,B.Sc and Mr.Nithin Kumar, B.B.M will assist the District Co-ordinator .
Mangalore Taluk is represented by Taluk Co-ordinator Mr.Sachin Shenoy B.A.
Bantwal Taluk is represented by Taluk Co-ordinator Mr.Pavan Shetty ,B.C.A.
Belthangady and Puttur Taluk is represented by Taluk Co-ordinator Mr.Prashanth M.Com.
Sullia Taluk is represented by Taluk Co-ordinator Mr.Sandeep ,B.A.
Moodabidre is represented by Taluk Co-ordinator Mr.Jagannath, B.A.
That out of the members of youth red cross unit in the college a Special Team shall be formed consisting of minimum of 5+1 gents i.e. 5 members and one team leader and 5+1 ladies i.e. 5 members and one team leader .If there are more volunteers to join DDRT multiples of 5+1 teams can be formed. The YRC Programme officer will lead the team from YRC Units from the college.
The DDRT team members will be trained in various subjects for disaster mitigation and rescue operation. The main objectives of the DDRT are:
1) Planning, Preparedness, Training, Co-ordination, Alert, Rescue, Respond.
2) Training of team members.
3) Forming of support groups in various localities with the initiatives of the team members and training them through capacity building programmes.
4) Creating awareness in public about contact details to approach during emergency.
DDRT will be guided by the Advisory Committee consisting the following personalities:

4) Prof..Sainath Malligemadu.- Chairman of Junior Red Cross & Youth Red Cross Sub Committee and Associate Professor SDM Law College.
5) Mrs .Meena Malani- Lecturer and First Aid Trainer.
6) Mr.Prathim Kumar K.S.- Yoga Trainer and Bharat Scouts and Guides Trainer
7) Mr.Prabhakar Shriyan- Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, D.K.
