Dadu's Purani Dilli 4.51

Padharo Hamaro Des could well be the motto of this Rajasthani-speciality restaurant belonging to the Dadu's group. Be it the décor, the kansa crockery, the jamewar frames, brass door knobs, the feel is Rajasthani, right from the way male customers are given a pagdi to don during the meal, to the warm water brought to you in a jug and basin to wash your hands before the meal, to the Rajasthani folk music playing in the background. The Rajasthani thali for both lunch and dinner are the staples here and don't disappoint. There is daal-baati-churma, (done very well), farsaan (dhokla, pakoda, etc), rotis (bajra, jowar, makkai), vegetable curries, including Rajasthani favourites like Gatte ki Sabzi, Ker Sangri, Papad Badi ki Sabzi, khichdi-rice-kadhi served with dollops of ghee, papad, chutneys, pickles and kachumber. There are desserts for which Dadu is well-known for, Ras Malai, Gulab Jamun, etc. The meal is accompanied by never-ending glasses of delicious chaas, spiked with a nice coriander-jeera garnish.
