CIRS was ranked #2 in the nation and #1 in Tamil Nadu among co-ed boarding schools in the 2016 EducationWorld India School Rankings.It offers CBSE from grades 5 to 12 and IB for grades 11 to 12. The school is currently run by Shanthi Krishnamurthy . The school has various facilities for various activities. It is a fully vegetarian school. Emphasis is laid mainly on ancient Indian culture and spirituality. The students of CIRS are led by the student body of counselors which are led by the school deans.HistoryThe idea of starting such a school came from Swami Chinmayananda. After his mahasamadhi in 1993, his successor Swami Tejomayananda moved to make this vision a reality. The school was inaugurated on June 6, 1996.The school started out with 96 students from Grades 5-8. Today, it has over 550 students and is known for being a well-performing private school in India.
