Bombay Durga Bari Samiti was founded in the year 1930 in Bombay (now Mumbai), a premier non-sectarian, cultural and charitable organization in Mumbai In 1940, it was formally established as "Bombay Durga Bari Samiti" and on 29th June, 1959, the Samiti was registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act 1956.
The name, however, is symbolic. Besides Durga puja, Lakshmi puja, Kali puja and Saraswati puja, the Samiti provides aid in different areas- charitable, social, educational and medical activities.
