Bhood is a village in Khanapur tehsil of Sangli district in Maharashtra, India. It is located near the city Vita. It is a famous place due to its Lord Bhoodsiddhnath Temple. Lord Bhoodsiddhnath is the Gramadevata of Bhood.The population of Bhood is 1,889 according to the 2011 Census, with agriculture being the prime occupation of the village's residents. Some residents are also employed at a Gold Refinery and the Jewellery business. Bhood is recipient of the Nirmal Gram Purskar in Sant Gadage Baba Gram Swachata Abhiyan.EtymologyBhood is well known for its Lord Bhoodsidhhnatha Temple. The village's name is taken from the Lord's name.HistoryBhood was under the administration of Aundh State during the British Raj, Aundh was a princely state in British India. It was a part of the Deccan States Agency division of the Bombay Presidency. After Indian independence, Bhood came under the administration of South Satara district. But, with the creation of Sangli district on 1 May 1960, Bhood is now within its jurisdiction.
