Accessing Government Schemes:
ASEEM assists beneficiary families to apply for government schemes and working capital loans from banks. Through camps in the bastis or at ASEEM Office, beneficiaries are able to apply for schemes without having to run from pillar to post. ASEEM also assists them to obtain necessary documents like income certificates, birth and death certificates, Adhar and Ration cards and open Bank Accounts all through a single window thus saving their time and money and ensuring that applications are filed in time.

Networking & Advocay :
There are innumerable bottlenecks and road blocks in the scheme application processes. ASEEM networks with other with other organisations/ activists to make representations to government officials / elected representatives regarding these bottlenecks. If the need arises, we also conduct press conferences and file Public Interest Litigation for judicial intervention.

There are a number of welfare and development programmes which are run directly by government agencies – programmes like education, primary health services, early childhood care etc. ASEEM conducts Social Audit of these programmes to identify problems in outreach and implementation and dialogue with district administration for better coverage and more effective implementation.

Integrating Community with Social & Economic Development Process:

Drawing lessons from various peoples’ movements in the Dalit and Christian Communities which have been driven more by professional efforts rather than voluntary efforts, ASEEM proposes to initiate a movement in the Muslim Community to be driven by young professionals who are dedicated to the empowerment of the community on a full time basis and see for themselves a career path in this work. We realise that the impact of this kind of an intervention will not be instant and only a long, sustained and transgenerational effort will revitalise the community and make them productive citizens.

Young people from the community who have a flair for community work will be identified and offered time bound support to trigger movements within their communities and institutionalise them as grass roots NGOs.
