Lord Murugan, also called Kartikeyan in Tamil language is considered the ancient war God of Hinduism. To be more precise, the deity commands the army of DEVAS against the marauding demons or Asuras. Murugan is the son of Lord Shiva who is regarded as the god of destruction by the Hindus.

He is worshipped as the principal deity by the Kumaran Sect in South India. Identified with different names, Lord Murugan is a popular mythological figure in the Vedas and spearheaded historical battles.

He is revered in the areas of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry apart from being worshipped in Sri Lanka, Singapore and other countries located in the Indian Ocean. Six shrines dedicated to the lords are situated in the South India and is frequented by devotees from all over the country. They are signified as six heavenly abodes of the God.
