The ultimate anti-chain hotel, Abode is fabulously unconventional in its individuality and style, yet suitably refined when it comes to meeting guests’ expectations.

Abode is the sequel to a story that begun in 1910 when Bombay was a bustling trading port, brimming with traders from across the new world.
Our hotel began life as the private residence of David Sassoon, one of Bombay’s most industrious entrepreneurs, during Bombay’s commercial heyday.
A local family specialising in antiques, acquired the property in 1982 and ran it as a small guesthouse for many years until the true potential of the property was realised in 2013.

The hotel is located in a lovely building from 1910 Bombay, and the soul of the place is still alive in Abode today. The hotel’s wooden and iron façade has been fully restored and the lobby still features the buildings original 19th Century chandelier.
The floors are laid with hand-made cement tiles by a local tile maker, operating in Mumbai for over 100 years.

Abode has combined the feel of luxury, the charm of a boutique hotel and a unique Bombay inspiration to source and create the furniture of the hotel.
