Abhishti(Reg no: CPN-4-00016-2013-14) is a non-government organization founded in 2013 by Sri. Nithin Kumar. A , based in Channarayapatna, Hassan, India. It is established and operated exclusively for literacy, social development, rural development, educational and charitable purposes.
The term “quality of life” as defined by Abhishti has two distinct and inter-related aspects.
• The first ‘quality of rural development and services’- the quality of rural amenities i.e., roads, hospitals, schools, transport, water supply etc.
• The second aspect ‘quality of citizenship’- the role that residents play by participating in civic issues.

Abhishti started as a movement to enable citizen participation in public governance. It has now evolved into a robust institution for citizenship and democracy.

Abhishti envisions Rural India as a flywheel of India’s social economic and political transformation.

Abhishi’s guiding principle to define quality of life and bring about changes in public governance is a comprehensive framework called REED. It is a acronym for four defining aspects of rural governance-

Empowered citizens and local governments
Enabled citizens and local governments with
Direct accountability of the government to people.
