The private house of Dr. Chaim Weizmann, the first president ">בית ויצמן- ביתם הפרטי של ד"ר חיים וד"ר ורה ויצמן, נבנה בשנת 1936. ד"ר חיים ויצמן (1952-1874) היה מדען, יו"ר ההסתדרות הציונית, נשיאה הראשון של מדינת ישראל ומייסדו של מכון ויצמן למדע. ד"ר ורה ויצמן (1952-1874) היתה רופאת ילדים במקצועה ועסקה בפעילות התנדבותית ענפה. הבית תוכנן בידי האדריכל היהודי הנודע, אריך מנדלסון (1953-1887) ונחשב ליצירה ארכיטקטונית ייחודית.
ב- 1949 עם היבחרו של ד"ר ויצמן לנשיא המדינה הפך הבית למשכן הרשמי של נשיא ישראל. לאחר מותו עבר משכן הנשיא לירושלים. בני הזוג תרמו את האחוזה, הבית ואת תכולתו למדינת ישראל במטרה לשמר את מורשתו של הנשיא הראשון והבית נשמר בדיוק כפי שהיה כאשר הזוג חיים וורה ויצמן גרו בו. בשנת 1978 התקיים שיפוץ בבית ויצמן ולאחריו הוא נפתח כמוזיאון, בשנת 1999 בוצעו בבית, באוסף ובאחוזה, שימור ושיחזור שהחזירו להם את אופיים כפי שהיה בתקופה שבה חיו בני הזוג.

The Weizmann house - the private house of Dr. Chaim and Dr. Vera Weizmann was built in 1936. Dr. Chaim Weizmann (1874-1952) was a scientist, President of the world Zionist organization, the first president of the state of Israel and the founder of the Weizmann institute of science. Dr. Vera Weizmann (1874-1952) was a pediatrician and was highly involved in significant volunteering work.
The house was designed by the famous Jewish architect, Erich Mendelsohn (1887-1953) and is considered a unique piece of architecture.
In 1949, when Dr. Weizmann was elected to be the first president of Israel, the house became the official presidential residence . After Chaim Weizmann passed away, the presidential residence moved to Jerusalem.
The Weizmann couple donated the estate, the house and its contents to the state of Israel in order to preserve the legacy of the first president.
In 1978 a renovation took place in the Weizmann house and it was opened as a museum.
In 1999 extensive preservation and restoration works were done in order to conserve the characteristics of the house as it was during the period when the couple lived in it.
