המכללה לכישורי חיים- Life Skills College 2.63

המכללה לכישורי חיים נוסדה על ידי ירדנה אמסלם על מנת לקדם המשך לימודים לבוגרים בעלי צרכים מיוחדים ולאפשר את שילובם בחברה.
המכללה מנוהלת ע"י ישראל ששון בוגר מפקד בי"ס צוללן -חיל הים .
אנשים בעלי צרכים מיוחדים מהווים חלק מהחברה הישראלית ומכאן זכותם לרכוש השכלה, לזכות בהכשרה מקצועית ולבחור כיצד לנהל את שעות הפנאי שלהם, ככלל אזרחי המדינה. יתר על כן זכותם לנסות ולהשתלב במסגרות האקדמיות וחובת המדינה לפעול על מנת לאפשר להם לממש זכות זו.
לאנשים בעלי צרכים מיוחדים יש צורך הן בהשתלבות בחברה והן בהשתייכות לקבוצת העמיתים.
לבעלי הצרכים המיוחדים כישורים מגוונים וביכולתם להשתלב בחלק מהקורסים הקיימים במכללת כנרת. עבור חלק מהסטודנטים יש לפתח קורסים מותאמים כולל לימודי הכשרה למקצוע והתנסות מעשית מקצועית. ניתן גם לפתח קורסים חדשים שיעודדו שילוב חברתי של בעלי הצרכים המיוחדים ושאר הסטודנטים.
על מנת לאפשר הצלחה בהשתלבות במסגרת אקדמית רגילה יש לבנות לסטודנטים בעלי הצרכים המיוחדים מערכת שילוב אישית הכוללת שעות שילוב ושעות תמיכה עם קבוצת עמיתים ובליווי אנשי מקצוע. מטרת מפגשי התמיכה היא להתכונן מראש לשיעורי השילוב ולעבד את ההשתתפות בהם לאחר מכן. כמו כן בחלק ממפגשי התמיכה תתקיים עבודה אישית וקבוצתית עם הסטודנטים בעלי הצרכים המיוחדים לצורך העשרה וקידום אישי.
המכללה פעלה כחמש שנים בטבריה. החל מחודש ספטמבר 2012 עברה המכללה לפעול בקיבוץ אשדות יעקב איחוד.


The Life Skills College in Ashdot Yaakov Ihud was founded to provide a solution for these individuals once they reach the age of 21, an age in which their thirst for knowledge and new experiences enhances. Yardena Amsalem established the College for Life Skills to provide a multi-educational experience, professional training, and enrichment for those individuals who suffer from developmental disabilities and yet want more out of life than working in a mundane sheltered workshop for the rest of their lives.

Our constituents are individuals who suffer from developmental disabilities. They are an undeniable part of Israeli society, and like all other Israeli citizens, they have a right to acquire education, professional training, and a choice of leisure activities. However, unfortunately according to the Education Laws in Israel, individuals with Special Needs must receive educational frameworks only until the age of 21.

The founding philosophy of the College is humanistic; it views the individual and his/her needs as its main focus, and acknowledges society's obligation to provide for these needs. Each human being has the right to learn, to develop themselves, to acquire a profession, and to advance his/her own quality of life.

The College offers an advanced study program which provides a response for the needs of the individuals who graduated from the formal educational frameworks in Afula, Tiberias, Beit Shean, and the surroundings. The program commences after the students' graduation and lasts until they are incorporated in the employment market. After the students leave The College, we continue to accompany them and assist them and their employers. Currently, there are 20 students enrolled in the College for the school year of 2011-2012.

We believe in the individual's ability to fulfill their own potential, while acknowledging their special needs. Therefore, we develop unique personal programs for the students, which are adapted to their needs and which pave the way towards self advancement, prosperity, and a better quality of life.

Currently the college consists of 2 large classrooms and several meeting rooms that are used for one on one or small group sessions. However there is a need to equip these rooms with learning apparatuses and equipment that can better facilitate their learning.
