Wexford CBS - Zambia Immersion Project 3.16

We are a group of students from Coláiste Éamonn Rís Secondary School, Wexford. We are currently fundraising for a community in Kabwe, Zambia in Africa, where we are going to visit in June 2015. The funds we raise will be used to buy much needed equipment to improve people's lives and will help with the development of a drop in centre and school called Sables. Sables provide a home and education for many of the street children from the surrounding areas.

In the past our school has taken part in this life-changing project, students and teachers were given the chance to travel to developing community in Kabwe, where we helped in a hospital, visited local schools, taught and interacted with the students. They also worked on many different projects while they were there. The project was a huge success and the community they visited benefited greatly from their contributions.

We will be travelling with an Irish charity called 'Zamda Ireland'. Zamda is set up through St. Josephs CBS in Fairview, which provides developmental aid to Kabwe in Zambia. They are dedicated to providing direct and effective aid to a number of projects in and around the city of Kabwe in Zambia. Their main priority is supporting “Sables”, a centre for Kabwe’s street children.
