The Bishop’s Palace charts the history of Waterford from 1700 to 1970 and gives a wonderful insight into the history of what was up to the 1750s, Ireland’s second city. Waterford city boasts the finest collection of 18th century architecture of any city in Ireland outside of Dublin and its great legacy from the period is its elegant silverware and, of course, fine glassmaking. Visitors to the Bishop’s Palace will see the oldest piece of Waterford Crystal in the world - a decanter made in the 1780’s.

Step back into the 13th century into Waterfords' atmospheric Choristers' Hall and the 15th century Wine Vault situated underneath.
As part of this stunning exhibition medieval cloth of gold vestments and the 1373 Great Charter Roll of Waterford are on display.

Real life characters bring to life Waterford's facinating history in these imaginative tours - Mayor Wyse in the Medieval Museum and in the Bishop's Palace Mrs. Richards. the gossipy housekeeper who has just returned from the public hanging of a mand found guilty of murding the head gardener at the Palace.

* Treasures of Viking Waterford, at Reginald's Tower *

Situated at the apex of the Viking Triangle in Waterford's historic city centre, Reginald's Tower is home to an exciting exhibition that uses a superb collection of historic and archaeological artefacts to tell the story of Waterford's Viking heritage. Reginald's Tower is a circular defense tower built at the beginning of the 13th century and at various stages in its rich history has been used as a mint, a prison and a military store. To this day, it remains Waterford's most recognisable landmark.
