Such as the Tetrapod Trackway dating back over 360 million years to the stunning views afforded from Geokaun Mountain & Fogher Cliffs, to a gentle stroll through sub-tropical gardens dating from the 1830's.

Valentia Island is steeped in history and a visit to the local Heritage Museum & Skelligs Experience Centre is a must to get to know all about our unique past as an island & a sense of our contribution to many historical events worldwide, such as the Transatlantic Cable which linked Europe to North America for the first time in 1866.

Valentia Island is accessible from the mainland by bridge from Portmagee & by ferry from Renard Point, Cahersiveen. Valentia Island Car Ferry runs from Renard Point situated a half mile off the Ring of Kerry road, to Knightstown Pier on Valentia Island. The ferry operates as a continuous shuttle service, with a five minute crossing, six months of the year from April to October.
