The Sheep’s Head Way offers a 150km way marked way which includes several National loop walks for day trip walkers, coastal, hill top, cliff side and river walks and a cycle route.
It has signed and preserved the heritage, archaeological and angling sites along its route. The way utilises old mass, school and fishermen’s paths, the way marked way depends on the commitment from the main local stakeholders namely landowners/farmers who allow the walk through their lands. Other stakeholders are the local tourism providers namely Bed and Breakfasts, restaurants, shops, public houses, fishing tackle and angling providers and walking guides. The initiative is non weather dependent as walkers and outdoor activists go out in any weather, thus it is a year round tourism product and at present is the main tourist attraction to the area. The development of the way has opened our scenic landscape to people.
