The DoubleBass Workshop 2.06

Founded by Tom Barrett in 2003, The Double Bass Workshop has become one of the most important and reputable assets to the double bass community in Ireland.Building on his background in traditional joinery and antique furniture restoration, Tom was invited to take training in violin repair by Herman Bischofberger of Bishofberger Violins, Seattle through the 1990's. Then in 1999, he was offered a one month intensive in Double Bass Restoration with Steven Reiley at Guarneri House, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has worked exclusively on the restoration, repair and setup of double basses since 1998, both in the USA and Ireland. He continues to collaborate and explore Double Bass construction, and restoration ideas and methods in various settings. Located in Galway city centre, the workshop offers a unique resource for Irish bass players, whether they are looking for their first double bass, move up to a professional level instrument or have expert restoration work carried out on their older fine pedigree bass.
